From The Chapter Director’s Chapter K Newsletter August 2008 WOW WHAT A WING DING!!! CHAPTER K was well represented at Wing Ding this year in Greenville, SC. We missed the members that could not go with us but the ones that went had a great time. We had a few “newbie's” to Wing Ding; Gary & Cheryl, Barry & Mary Ann, Steve, Mike & Dona and then some returning members; Reggie & Faye, Jessie & Brenda, along with Danny and myself. We all stayed at the Table Rock Campground about 35 miles from the event. We know now why it was called Table “Rock”, very rocky and very hilly. Some had to keep pulling them selves back up on their beds during the night due to the non-level sites. You have to have heard the stories!! Wing Ding 30 was organized well and offered something for everyone. Steve took two days worth of courses while there and was able to put to use the skills that he learned. The next time you see him ask him why we now call him “2-wheels” even though he rides a trike. We all did some shopping and purchased some items for our bikes as well as some items for ourselves. Gary, Cheryl, Danny and Myself went to the parade that this year GWRRA tried to break the record of more that 884 two wheeled Goldwings, but they did not make it. If they had counted all the bikes that rode in the parade, it would have been way over that amount. We spent a couple of days riding in the mountains just enjoying the scenery and the beautiful weather. We found a waterfall that we climbed and decided to get our feet wet, man that was fun. Another day we got a picnic lunch and rode until we found a tunnel that you could walk down. It was very dark and very wet but to the ones that dared the dark and moisture had a scary of a time. Some of the group decided to scare some little folks; I think they went back to their childhood for a bit. At the campground there was a lake that had a two level diving board that some of us adventured to. It was wonderful seeing Faye out do all those others diving off the tallest diving board, included all of us!! She was not afraid of it at all. There is so much more that we could go on and on, let’s just say if you were not there you missed a great time even around the campground. On a different but very important note, Gary has got the new website up with the new address so please mark your favorites with this new address: We now have a new Tire Kicker location at Jack’s BBQ on exit 1 that is working out very well. He has hamburgers, hot dogs and of course BBQ that is very good. If you have not been able to join us, mark your calendars. The tire kicker is held the 4th Tuesday of the month. Please come and join us. Remember, Fun, Safety, and Knowledge is the key but friendship is the lock!! Ride safe and see ya soon. Allyson and Danny |
